Family Law

Family Law is the area of our practice that includes all aspects of a dissolution of a marriage inlcuding but not limited to child and spousal support, custody and property division. Initial consultations are $300. The Hourly rate is typically $300/hr however the amount is negotiable depending upon the complexity of the case. We represent on a limited basis/consultation basis or for the entire proceeding to final judgement.

Divorce is complicated. Property division involves more than deciding who takes what. Tax ramifications must always be included. Support may or may not be the subject of income tax or a credit for amounts paid. Pension plans and retirement are complicated and require specific detailed Orders for distribution. In these unfortunate times, many clients are “upside down” in their homes and bankruptcy and foreclosures are not only common, but greatly impact the divorce.

In addition to representing individuals, our office also assists parties in mediation. Mediation is typically where both parties meet with the assistance of an attorney to work out disputes. Mediation services can be used for limited issues or to draft all paperwork necessary for the divorce. Mediation is a cost effective way to resolve issues.
