ART SHOWS
Two years ago, Pegnim & Ivancich, LLP established the Pegnim & Ivancich Youth Foundation. The Foundation is a registered charitable organization with the ambition of giving back to the youth of Antioch and East Contra Costa County.
One of many ideas that we had to support our community was to have an Art Show for local High Schools. We approached Freedom High School in Oakley, CA and spoke with their Art Department. Lora Dwyer (Beginning, Advanced, and AP Art teacher) and David Gautier (Beginning and Intermediate Art teacher) were both very enthusiastic about the idea of having their student’s artwork represented in our local law office. Our office supplied their students with the materials to frame each piece and the teachers and students worked together to prepare them and bring them to our office. We then hung the artwork on our walls and displayed them for two weeks before hosting an Art Show for the art students, their parents, and the art teachers. During the event, each student received a $25 gift card to Aaron Brothers and a Certificate of Participation. Our office also voted for the top 3 pieces and those students received further winnings. All together, it was an incredibly successful event which our office felt very fortunate to be a part of.
We are currently preparing to host our next Art Show for another High School in the area. Our goal is to host an Art Show for as many High Schools in East Contra Costa County that would like to participate and then host a District-Wide Art Show sometime in 2013. This Art Show will be on a larger scale and will host the top students’ pieces in the District.
